Absolutely true, however I don't think it is fully your choice, parental behavioural conditioning modifies your ability or inability to meet or engage with what we may love.

Also not only is it what you take in, it is also how you choose to mix up and apply those influences.

Sure, I'm inspired by family and they shape what I love, but so do my friends, and the books I read, and the people I follow on Twitter, etc. Perhaps the things which I am guarded against are the reverse?
